Promoting Professionalism

in Our Workplace Environment

Due to our humble beginnings, we have an entrepreneurial company culture. We gravitate to the best ideas that move our projects, people, teams, culture, and clients forward. We are agnostic on whether the best ideas come from a CEO or an apprentice — we treat each other with dignity and respect and are mindful of each’s expertise. Because this company is founded on collaboration and best ideas, we expect everyone to contribute to this growth mindset in their daily work.

Southland is a place that embraces workplace respect for all individuals. Generally, conduct that may be disruptive, unproductive, unethical, or illegal will not be tolerated. All employees must respect and obey both the letter and spirit of applicable laws and regulations.

At Southland, people must feel empowered to speak up and share thoughts and ideas that make our workplace and our business better. We are an equal opportunity workplace and do not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, national origin, religion, disability, political affiliation, or any other status protected by law. We believe that a positive work environment promotes our business and our employees’ job satisfaction.

Every one of us deserves a workplace in which everyone is treated with respect, and that is free from bullying, harassment, coercion, or intimidation. We will ensure that our workplace fosters an environment that is safe, welcoming, and inclusive, and we expect all employees to conduct themselves in the same vein. This is especially important as we continue to grow.

Treating everyone with respect is also a bedrock tool for recruiting quality employees at every level who make up great teams. These same standards apply when we engage with customers, vendors, government officials, or any other third-party. All of our employees are also obligated to honor these standards and the behavior standards set forth in the Employee Handbook. The Employee Handbook establishes the proper standards and procedures concerning general harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination prevention, anti-bullying, and anti-retaliation and is to be read in conjunction with this Ethics Code.

Consult the Employee Handbook and Southland’s Human Resources Department concerning any of the issues listed above. Additionally, consult Southland’s Code of Safety Manual for any health and safety policies related to the workplace. The health and safety policies are also to be read in conjunction with the Ethics Code.
